Guatemala, Photos

Back in June 2014, shortly after the LA to Dallas road trip, two mates and I travelled from Mexico to Panama over three and a half months. We ended up visiting every country along the way, including a detour to Cuba between Mexico City and the Yucatán Peninsula, but my favourite of them all was easily Guatemala. Here are a few photos from the three weeks we spent there – starting off with Semuc Champey above.

El Remate, on the eastern shore of Lake Petén Itzá, was our first stop after crossing the border from Belize

The Temple of the Great Jaguar at Tikal

Peer pressure also took over at Tikal

A fairly chilled ferry crossing in Sayaxché, on the way from Flores to Lanquín (the closest town to Semuc Champey)

The Cahabón River passing through Semuc Champey

A father and son on the truck from Semuc Champey

Sunrise over Lake Atitlán from La Nariz del Indio, which we hiked to from San Pedro la Laguna

The view at the start of the short day hike on the Pacaya Volcano, which we accessed from Antigua

The scorching Hot Springs Waterfall at Finca Paraiso, a short trip from Rio Dulce in north-eastern Guatemala
